Lighting Design
I enjoy working on lighting for a show. I feel you have such a large impact on how the audience views the show. By changing your saturation as well as hue you really make a large difference in the feeling of the show or a scene alone. I enjoy experimenting and using gels that are not the common ones to go to. I also love working with more saturated colours and playing with shadows.
Paperwork is not a chore to me. I find paperwork to be very important during the design process because the more detailed you are, the more exact your plot and patch will be.
One of the most important things to me is the fact that I have worked with many different types of lights, and not just on paper but physically moving them and performing maintenance. Manuals and paper wil tell you what the light should do, but you will never truly understand the lights capabilities until you have worked with it.
I have also worked as a programmer and master electrician for many shows during my college career. I would run the light hangs, as well as making sure things were done timely and efficiently. I do a lot of the programming at our theatre including both static and smart lights. I have worked mostly with the ETC Ion lighting console and work with intelligent lighting such as Martin Mac 500, Elation Design Wash 300E, LED Elation Elar-Tripar-IP, Robe Colormix 250, Elations CMY Zoom 575, Cyperlight Litho, and ETC Desire D60 Vivid. I have acquired a large amount of other technical knowledge throughout my undergraduate studies at Georgia Southern University. I am capable of working with programs such as Vectorworks as well as all Microsoft Office and Mac OSX.
